Douglas McPheat is Melbourne born and bred and completed his apprenticeship in 1995. He went on work for a number of 5-Star establishments including the Sofitel, Hilton, Mercure and more recently Manchester Lane. During his time at Mercure Douglas enjoyed huge success and was voted Best Mercure Dinner Restaurant (2005) and Best Mercure Breakfast & Conference Food (2006). In 2007 he travelled and worked through Europe on a paid scholarship and cooked with culinary leaders at Gordon Ramsey’s “Royal Hospital Road”. Douglas has worked in the kitchens of Alan Ducasse and Michael Bras and brings extensive leadership and culinary experience to the Willows.
